Green Line livery is a winner
Green Line's iconic livery has won a top prize in a national competition with more than 300 entrants. With votes cast by readers of the bus and coach industry trade magazine routeone, the Green Line livery as applied to the three twin-deck vehicles on the 701/702 services between Berkshire and London scooped the 2009 Best Bus Livery accolade.
The Green Line name and instantly recognisable colours have their origins nearly 80 years ago but, just as the styling of the vehicles to which they are applied has changed over the years, so has the application of the livery to those vehicles been subtly modernised to keep Green Line's services looking modern and fresh.
The prize-winning application of the livery was created by Ray Stenning of Best Impressions, in response to a brief from Green Line partner First in Berkshire. With three high-specification Wright Gemini-bodied Volvo B9TLs on order, reintroducing twin-deck coaches after a gap of more than 20 years, this presented the perfect opportunity to review the livery. The new vehicles were fitted with luxurious black leather seating, some positioned around tables, plus power sockets for charging laptops or phones, and free WiFi. Best Impressions adapted the livery to perfectly complement the stylish bodywork and high-quality interiors.
Matthew Wooll, marketing manager for First in Berkshire, which runs the Green Line 701/702 services, said: "We are very proud that the livery on our twin-deck coaches has been voted the best in the UK. It brings right up to date an illustrious heritage of customer service and reflects the quality of Green Line coach travel today."
