Frequently asked questions

  • Can I pay for my ticket on the coach/bus using a debit or credit card?

    At this time we can only accept payment in cash.  Some tickets can be purchased online using your debit/credit card; please visit the ticket section on the website for more details.

  • Can I pay for my ticket using Euros?

    At this time our drivers can accept only UK Sterling on board the Green Line services.

  • Can I take my bike on the bus?

    We do not permit the carriage of bikes on any of our services. 

  • Can I take my dog on the services?

    Our coaches do not permit the carriages of dogs other than special assistance/guide dogs.  

  • Can I use my senior citizen or disabled bus pass on the Green Line services?

    Under the English National Concessionary travel scheme any bus pass issued in England is valid for free off-peak travel on Green Line services.  Off-peak is defined as after 0930 weekdays and all day weekends and Bank Holidays.

  • Can Oyster Cards be used on the Green Line services?

    No, they cannot.

  • Do children pay to travel?

    Children under 5 do not pay to travel on our services.  At busy times this may mean they need to sit on an adult's lap to permit fare-paying passengers to board.  Children aged 5 and over pay the child rate fare.  See our fares and tickets page.

  • Do Green Line coaches have toilet facilities on them?

    No, none of our fleet is equipped with toilets. However, the average journey from Luton to London only takes around 90 minutes and there are toilets at Victoria and near all other stops in London.

  • Do I need the correct change and how much will my ticket cost?

    If you are buying your ticket on the bus it is helpful to have the right money.  Depending on the time of day and the journey you are making the cost will vary for each service. Online tickets can be purchased for the majority of our services.

  • I have lost an item on the bus, how do I find out if it has been handed in?

    For services 712, 724, 757, 758 and 797. please call 0844 800 4411 or email customerservice@arriva-shires.com.  For services 701 and 702 please email contact.berkshire@firstgroup.com  

  • I have ordered a ticket online, but haven't received my voucher for travelling. What should I do?

    Have you checked your junk/spam folder? Sometimes the vouchers get delivered there.If it's not there you will need to call customer services on 0844 800 44 11 (or from outside the UK 44 00 1582 584478) between the hours of 0800 and 1800 and they will resend it to you. If you are travelling before you are able to contact them you will need to pay the driver as you board and claim a refund afterwards. This may incur an administration fee.

  • Is there a limit to the size or amount of luggage I can take?

    On the coach services all luggage is stored in the hold of the vehicle and as long as the driver is able to load the item then we can carry it. You may need to assist with the loading of larger or heavier items.  If the area for luggage is full then you would have to wait for the next service in order to travel.  On the Green Line 724, the vehicle is a bus with a dedicated area for luggage so suitcases are fine but large items, for example surfboards, skis, golf clubs, will only be allowed at the discretion of the driver.
