Butterfly World
Butterfly World is now in it's second phase and opened this year on the 29th April 2010. Phase II of the project marks the second of four phases culminating in the opening of the massive rainforest biome in the Autumn, 2011. Open from 29th April to 26th September 2010, the focus for the season is on educating our visitors about the lifecycle of the butterfly and its extraordinary fragility and also about how to grow butterfly-attracting plants to encourage the return of native butterflies into our gardens.
Exciting designer gardens, Britain’s biggest wildflower meadow, a tropical butterfly house, fun experience gardens for children and much, much more, all backed by Professor David Bellamy to raise awareness on the plight of butterflies.
Walk through giant flowerpots, come and explore the edible treats in The Very Hungry Caterpillar Garden and learn how to bring back butterflies to your own garden with planting ideas in the British Butterfly Garden.
Set in 27 acres in St Albans, the Butterfly World Project, Phase I makes a great day out for garden lovers and for all the family. Facilities include a café, picnic area and plant boutique.
